I am using the following C# code:

My problem is that I cannot figure out how to pass the two parameters from my.aspx page to my Login() method.

So, first off, the WebMethod in your service needs to be declared as
[WebMethod]
public string Login(string username, string password)
{
// Stuff goes here
}
Note that it does not use the request object in the params.
Secondly, you are using the object and properties "request" in the wrong place. It is your ajax call that should have the request object, not your Login method. I assume you are using jQuery or a similar JavaScript library to call the service. In this case, it would look like this:
